Summertime

Last night was date night with my hubbie Brows and my free meal.... (FYI: I do 2 free meals a week because one entire free day would do me in and would take me a few days to get over, plus the ill feeling...) I think this is the first time we've had a "date night" since before the marathon, and we normally have a "date night" once a week, usually on Wednesdays. June was a crazy-busy month. My "free" meals are usually pretty clean, but I'll have a drink with dinner or have dessert. I have also cut my alcohol intake WAY back since the marathon, and a couple of months prior to the marathon I cut out all alcohol. I had one drink last night, a Cosmopolitan, but it got to me. This morning I felt pretty crummy, almost hang-over-ish... I've been drinking a ton of water and I have the coffee going... I Love You MugI hope that's all I need to snap me out of this yuck.

Yesterday, Evan and I played in the sprinkler. At first, he didn't want to run through, but I held his hand and we went through together... It was great because he thought it was really funny... He giggled, then before you know it he was saying "let's go again! One, two, three, go!" After a while, he was fascinated with the sprinkler and all the spray settings on it... After an hour playing in the sprinkler, it was lunch and he went down for a really LONG nap. Sweet

Depending on how the day plays out, I may fit in a LBW at some point today, just leg extensions and leg curls on the Bowflex. I'm still baby-ing the foot.

PEACE

Summertime? Old group. 60s. Don't have the name, though.

Sprinklers - last weekend it was so hot, I pretended to be working on our sprinklers just so I could sort of be like a kid again!

Tom,
A few people have recorded the song. Hint: Female. :)

We have an irrigation system in the back yard, but it was too intimidating for the little guy, so the one attached to the hose worked fine for running through. Hehe, I think that's my husband's excuse for "fixing" the sprinklers...It's amazing how those always seem to need fixing on warm days... ;)

I was thinking "Summertime" by rapper Will Smith.

Love the sprinkler. I should do that this weekend, it's going to be around 100 on both days.

Katiefeldmom,
I had to look that one up, -- just in case because there are many versions but, that's not the one... That one is actually called "Summertime '98" Keep guessing!

I hadn't run through the sprinklers in ages... It was fun!

He's so adorable. Looks like a fun day for both of you and a memory to last a lifetime!

Isn't it a song from "Porgy & Bess" by George Gershwin? I remember singing it growing up.

Rachel,
Thanks. I am enjoying every minute!

Cathy,
Incredible! That's it, and excatly where it came from! You win! I would have even gone with Janis Joplin, Ella Fitzgerald, and even Fantasia Barino, but even Willie Nelson and George Benson had their versions.

Thanks on the advice on shin splints (2 posts ago)! I'm taking it easy right now and hope it gets better. Although I don't know what I was thinking. I signed up for the 5K challenge in tracker. Ack!

I love Gershwin's Summertime!

I have Ella's version- I love it!

I think I need to go to two free meals- the free days are hard to recover from.

Love the sprinkler photo- so cute. We're going to put the sprinkler under my Mom's trampoline this weekend for my nieces and nephews. It was one of my favorite summer things as a kid!

Chantal,
I hope your shins feel better! A little time off now will be better than a lot of time off and a bigger injury later. Good luck!

Cherie,
I did my first challenge exactly by the book. It was halfway into my second challenge that I started doing 2 free meals per week instead. It worked better for me, even though others swear by the whole free day. Sprinkler under the trampoline? Take pictures! I want to see that!

my little guy and i go in the sprinklers quite often. it cools us down on these 90-degree days (we have no a/c). i find that if i keep my wet clothes on i stay cool for hours!

NSM,
Thanks for stopping by! There's nothing like a good run through the sprinklers!
