4th of July update

Thanks to Kyra, I have done yet another very pointless "quiz." Can't help it. There's something that keeps me going back to these sometimes bizarre and pointless quizzes... Morbid curiosity? There's a million other things I need to do and should do but I am somehow sucked in...

How will you be defined in the dictionary?

Irene --

[adjective]:

Extremely extreme!

This was from Quiz Galaxy.com

(I didn't cut and paste the given info from the direct link because I didn't like that it offset the page layout of my blog.) *Sigh*

Yesterday's 5k run went okay. It wasn't my best run, time wise, but it wasn't my worst either. At the one mile marker I was running a sub 8 minute mile (7:56), but with the morning costal air being so heavy, asthma kicked in around mile 2 and I slowed WAY down. I didn't have a choice. It felt like I was running with lead in my chest. I finished my 5K in around 27:48 or so. I don't have the exact time since the event promoters are slow in getting the results out. I wasn't expecting to do a personal best at this year's run, so I felt good to have gone out there and participated. There were twice as many people this year. The event promoters put the run info back on Active.com and had a bigger turn out. This year there were lines for all of the juices, fruit, and other free foods after the run, which usually isn't the case.

I had a free day yesterday, and I thought I did some damage, but this morning's weight was 128. That's down a pound. I suppose all the recreational swimming I did at our friend's annual 4th of July party helped keep things in check. Big Smile

Today it's about being "back on track." I still need to fit in a workout and finish up the Jack Sparrow coat for my friend. I'll edit later...

Peace

Great jon on the 5k! That is a really good time, I'm planning to run a 5k at the end of the month and I hope to do that well. Your first mile was SO FAST!!

Good job on the run! I really understand about the choking feeling you get from the humidity. Not fun!

I want to see the Jack Sparrow coat when you get done, if you didn't melt away :)

My sisters are going to the midnight showing of the Pirates premiere. They keep begging me to go, but they just don't understand I'm not 18 anymore. i can't stay up until 3 and then go to work at 9.

Do you take anything for the asthma or does just slowing down take care of it?

Pamela,
I don't think the 5k run did any harm since I didn't go that far. My ankle is still sore, though, but no worse. Heh, my dog is such a dork, anyway, so the "lampshade" on her head is funny. (I say "Dork" with the most love.) I'm not going to take the collar off until the rash is totally healed, so it's a couple of more days...

Melissa,
I didn't think I was going that fast but it was a good first mile. That was as good as it got.

Sister Smile,
Ugh. Asthma. I haven't had it in a long time so it took me by surprise. Cutting out most dairy has cut down on asthma attacks. I am fortunate in that my asthma is not that bad. It does slow me down, though.

Cherie,
I will take pictures of my Jack Sparrow look-alike friend with the new coat on and all the other parts to his costume. He's such a ham... though. :) I have an abuterol inhaler for asthma attacks. This particular attack took me by surprise because I hadn't had an attack in a very long time. Slowing down and doing a forced breathing pattern helps me if I'm out running. Hot coffee also helps me with an attack. I guess it's the caffiene that helps.
