Today was officially my dad's 79th birthday. Since it coincided with my nephew's birthday (on my husband's side of the family) we celebrated both birthdays today at my sister-in-law's house for dinner. I made my dad an apple pie, his favorite, instead of cake. I wish I could say that we arranged the Chargers win over the Colts today for my dad's birthday, but the timing could not have been more perfect.
In other news, the pipes in the backyard have been replaced and we had water back on before the sun went down yesterday. This is what it looked like yesterday:
It was quite an ordeal, plus there was the discovery of an old septic tank, right over the area where we plan to add on to the house. Just when you think one home improvement issue is all said and done, something else pops up. The old septic tank will need to be removed or filled with dirt. My husband is thinking it will need to come out. My poor dog was besides herself, looking at her lawn all dug up. She likes to sun herself on the lawn if it's a nice warm day. There was little to no lawn for her to strech out on. She would just walk out there and look into the dug out trenches and old pipes. By the way, the plumbing works great! No more backed up sinks, tubs, showers or toilets! Landscaping is to follow...

Happy Birthday dad! That looks like a nice thick pie. yummy! I'm so glad your water is back up and running. I was envisioning you without water and desperately wanting to shower. :) Too bad you didn't find a buried treasure. Maybe next time!
The Beatles!

Wow, lots of work going on at your house! Poor doggie. Glad water is running better and no clogs anymore! YAY!
Maybe your dad should celebrate his birthday during every Chargers game...it sure paid off this time.

Simply Pink,
The plumbers were nice and gave us about an hour time frame to get our showers and everything done! Winner!!!

Pamela,
I haven't made pie like that in ages. It was good, even if I do say so myself! The pipes... Ugh. The project is overwhelming!
