Here is what I'm up against...
The weeds and stray grasses were a lot more unruly. This is mid segment of the yard. The house is to the far right. My son is pulling weeds from a walk way. What the picture shows is two large gardening segments of the yard. I highly doubt we'll used those two large areas for vegetable gardening, as half of one of those segments would be plently big.
On a smaller scale, I am making progress...
In the weeds and tall grasses, I did uncover an unruly and neglected rose bush. I believe this is a rose bush my grandma had planted well over 25 years ago. After some water and a little fertilizer it exploded...
My hope is, with in a year and a lot of hard work, we'll have the house back to as it once was when my grandparents were alive. It was a beautiful property and it WILL be once again.

Pretty pics. I'm not a candidate for laser eye correction because my corneas are too thin. I guess when they do the laser surgery the corneas get even thinner, and I guess my eyes couldn't handle that.

Thanks. Thin corneas = not a good candidate for lasik... bummer. The good thing is that there's some pretty cool glasses out there now, and contact lens technology keeps improving. :) I've been through my share of dorky glasses since age 8...

It was one sorry little bush when I found it under all the weeds. I was glad to see what kind of rose it was when it began to bloom. It smells wonderful! The good thing about dianthus is that it's one plant I know I won't kill! I've planted them at just about every place we've lived. I plan on mulching once I finish planting those. I need a couple more 6 packs. Then the veggie garden project begins...
I don't really enjoy working in the yard, but when I do, I loved the end results! Today I found a petunia that had popped up from nowhere. I was really excited.
I love the rose bush. You have a really neat story behind that.

I spent a lot of summer vacations at my grandparent's house when they took great care to garden. I guess that's where I "cultivated" my appreciation for gardening. Thanks for visiting!

The outside lighting was just right, it was a rose towards the bottom of the bush, and I used the marcro setting on my camera. :) Thanks. Michael is feeling much better!
