Last night I attended a function with Michael, a lecture on community revitalization, then went for "drinks" with his colleagues, most of them went to the same college as Michael, one of which was his first college teacher and mentor in his field, who he hadn't seen in years. Michael had a great time rehashing the good ol' days... Only one other person (besides me) was not in their field... I spent a lot of time listening. Since this was supposed to be my "free meal" night I had my dinner while everyone else had drinks, but it was actually a really clean meal since I've cut out alcohol until after the marathon... I had grilled chicken strips on top of a spinach salad... Anywhoooo... I'm trying to think back if I've dragged Michael to any of my industry lectures about optometric stuff, retail, and whatnot, where they're all talking shop... but not really. I think the closest thing was one of my high school reunions, but it turned out that he worked (at one time) with one of my classmates and another classmate was his work partner's client... Oh well...
Reality check:
My brother is still trying to get me to run in the Bay to Breakers event with him in San Francisco at the end next month... I'm still thinking about it and if I decide to go, I can sign up the day of the event... He really wants me to go to this one, just because it's so "colorful." Teehee. People get crazy for this run with costumes or the lack thereof... It's a 12K.
Today is a non-workout, non-runing day.
Things that went right: (so far)
*Eating is extremely clean.
*Took my dog to the vet and she didn't hide behind me like a little kid...
*Coffee...
Things that need improvement:
*I still need to map out my 18 miler for this weekend. I think I know where I'm going, but I don't want to run more miles than I need to.
*Go shoe shopping... Shopping doesn't float my boat and I need a pair of foo-foo shoes that does not cost an arm and a leg.
Peace

Hi there.
Two of our boys live in San Francisco. We were up there last year on the weekend of the Bay to Breakers. We had to get out of hotel on Van Ness early Sunday or we would have been locked in! I'm sure you know, it's a huge event.
Good eating on a free day! I always hate when that happens.
be good.
Your running really impresses me, I was reading your last post too. TWO half marathons, and that close together?! WOW!! I'm just getting ready for a 20k in June and not planning anything after that! LOL Well, my hubby and I might race in a few 5k's or a 1/2marathon together when he gets back, but we'll see. I'm just in awe at people like you who can complete such high mileages. Great job!! And way to go on the eating, that's the hardest part for me!
BTW- where in SW Iowa??
Hmmm....maybe I could go shopping for you and you can run for me. If only that would work.
Tom,
My brother lives right near a BART station so all's I would have to do is jump on the BART early enough to make that run! My brother keeps talking about all of the nekkid paited runners... Crazy, I tell ya!
Melissa,
If the running base is there, then two 1/2 marathons should be okay. I can see how it can be done. Right now I'm staggering my weekly runs for full marathon training. 2 weeks ago I ran a 16 miler, the following week I ran a 6.4 distance, then this weekend I run 18. Next week will should an 8 mile. I'm not speedy. I just want to finish on my own two feet...
Donna,
That would be so cool. I'd put in an order for some gold or bronze colored strappy sandals with some bead work or bling and a 3" heel, size 6 1/2... LOL... How many miles do you need? Hehehehehehe...

Oops... Tom, it's supposed to be "nekkid PAINTED runners." LOL...
I wish we could have stayed to see it - actually we didn't even know it was that weekend until we saw all of the road block signs.
Anyway, our room at the hotel faced Van Ness so we could have seen the whole thing. One of these days.
And I can just imagine that the "nekkid painted runners" may be about the TAMEST people in the run!
be good.
I hate shopping for shoes too!
Good Luck!
ok, so you caught me! I do still walk amoung the living.....Perhaps
Tom,
My brother actually runs B2B every year for a time placement... He says there are some people who should defiently be clothed...
Katiefeldmom,
I worked retail for years and I only go shopping if I know the malls won't be busy or I just shop on line...
ZJ,
MT isn't the same without you! Amongst the living? Hehehehe... Thanks for stopping by...

Irene, I'll take whatever you can spare. I can't wait to build up my stamina again. I know it'll come with time, I'm just impatient.
I really don't like shopping much either. But with shoes, you got to try them on!
Let us know if you do the Bay to Breakers.
Yeah, I know... Jeans and shoes are two things that need trying on before buying!!! If I do B2B I will definetly post about it... I still have to think about it... Finances is also something to thing about...
