People Have The Power

Upper Body Workout - Circuits: Bean push-ups, bench dips, bicep curls, upright rows, ab crunches. 6 sets.

I'm still trying to get past this cold. I had to rest between sets, just so I could get some breathing and coughing in... The up side is that I do have some energy back.

I wasn't called into jury duty today *shock* but I still need to call in every day the rest of this week. I guess it's better than going down there and waiting around all day, but it makes it hard to plan out the week.

Did anyone happen to catch Nova's Marathon Challenge? I watched it just because a friend thought I might find it interesting. Yes, it was interesting, and I think this program would be excellent for someone contemplating running a marathon for the first time. Only one of the members lost weight, but she was also participating in a boot camp workout program in addition to marathon training. All but one of the participants completed the challenge. The one who couldn't run had stress fractures, but was there cheering for everyone on marathon day, at the Boston Marathon. I had always thought a runner needed a qualifying time to run the Boston Marathon, but I guess, since this was a Nova experiment, they had special permission to participate.

Peace

you either qualify for boston or sign up with a charity like The Leukemia Foundation. Raise enough money and you get to run.

did you notice all the runners that were still out there 4 and 5 hours after the gun? Is boston that much harder? I don't think so.

Barbie2be - Winner!!!! I just found out that I'm on call for jury duty all month! Ugh!

Pat - I never knew about the raising money part. I don't think Boston is THAT much harder but they do have a shorter time limit. I think they start closing things down around the 6 hour mark, but they did mention opening roads back up to traffic around the 5:30 hour mark. SDRNR marathon has a 7 hour time limit.

I'm sneaking in a little blog reading while getting ready for work....

I watched the NOVA special and agree that it's encouraging to anyone thinking of doing a marathon without any base training. And, yes, Boston's always allowed thousands of non-qualifiers to run either for charity or for special projects like this one. New England track clubs receive free numbers to hand out to their members, sponsors or anyone they please. But they have to start in the back of the pack with that colorful cast of renegade bandits that always make the race unique.

I never really checked into that! I do think it would be really awesome to someday get a BQ, but I'm OK with my snails pace. ;)...
