Last night, as I was sitting down talking with Michael, I noticed that my right ankle was rather swolen. It didn't hurt, it just felt sore, like a slightly sore muscle, but it was rather puffy and large. I'm not sure what to make of this. I just get my left ankle healed and now my right ankle is doing bizarre stuff. I don't get it. I didn't have any issues running yesterday, I stretched before and after running. I obviously strained something, but I'm baffled. The swelling has gone down but it still feels like a sore muscle. I have upper body weights today, so that won't make a difference in my workout. Tomorrow is another story... I'm supposed to do a 5 mile tempo run but I don't think that would be a good idea right now. I may get in an early morning visit to the gym and do the recumbent bike, just to keep things moving.
I finally found a hydrostatic body fat testing place in my area, but it looks like the availability for it is in October, so I'm thinking, maybe, after the half marathon, I could check it out. This is the same place I had checked into a while back, but there weren't any San Diego locations at the time.
Peace

Sounds like your body is telling you to take a break from running. Hope your ankle heals soon!
Jackson Browne?
Hey, I knew the Mamas and the Papas! It's so rare that I know one that even though it's an old post, I had to mention it.
As for the ankles, I don't know a distance runner who doesn't consistently battle a myriad of issues during training. I'm always amazed by the perseverance.
I'm curious about the dunking, too. If you do it, please report!
Chantal,
Yes, a break from running, just a short one. I hope it resolves itself quickly.
Katie,
Wow, you're good! Winner! I wasn't sure if anyone would get that one!
Cherie,
All of these aches and pains are new to me, but I guess it goes with the long distance territory. I'll just keep on going, even if I have to go really slow. I've been wanting to get dunked for a while. I sort of have an idea of where things stand, but it would be nice to get a closer estimation. I'll keep you posted on that.
