Don't Think Twice, It's Alright

Activity: Run
Date: 03/14/09 08:30 AM

Distance: 6.28 miles

Time: 1:07:39

Speed: 5.6 mph

Pace: 10' 46 min/mile

Calories: 603

Today's track club run was supposed to be a 2:15 hour run, and, at my pace, is twice around the perimeter of Coronado - which is the purple line on the map. Even though I visited my chiropractor yesterday and he put my ankle back into place, I'm still sensitive. I decided to just run once around the island. I was a little torn about going around only once because I like this particular route, the weather was perfect for running (cool with cloud cover) but my ankle was arguing with the rest of my body -- and my ankle won. I've learned to listen to those nagging body parts... I was pleased with my 1:07:39 time for just one trip (about a 10K) around the island.

Either a lot of people were beat up from last week's 15K or they had something else going on. We were missing a lot of our usual runners. We had decent contingent of runners, but just about half, and we still made for a large group.

I also had a quick assessment from a massage therapist who was there for the track club. Apparently, what ever they're doing at rehab is working because I'm not as off as I thought I was. I always thought/knew I had crappy posture, but the guy seemed to think I was OK. It has been a while since anyone associated with anything medical or therapeutic said I was OK.

I thought this was cool:

Not much else to report on. I have a rather uneventful weekend ahead of me, and maybe that's a good thing.

Great title for your post. I think you're pretty fast, and I'm glad you're listening to your body. You're a macha muchacha even without going around twice.

I'm hoping 6 miles is OK, since that's all I ran this morning too... It's good that you listened to your ankle.

Enjoy your uneventful weekend!

Soon as I saw who won the last song, I could hear it. I guess I don't know Avril like I thought.

It's St. Paddy's weekend...my guess is the young people were nursing hangovers and the older folks were running the 10k in Mission Bay. Keep listening to your body. I'm finally on speaking terms again with mine.

I'd love to run on coronado. The video was pretty cool, but I'm thinking the pool jumper was done in reverse.

Dori,
Thanks. I should listen more often. :)

AKA Alice,
It's OK with me! 6 works!

Anne,
I finally heard that there was a few race events going on at the same time, which might be part of the reason for the lower turn out.

Pat,
That's something for you to consider! There's a 5k/15k on the 4th of July, just in case...

Melanie,
I've learned the hard way to really listen to every ache and pain, just in case...

Deene,
It was, and I even met another runner that day!

Barbie2be,
I liked that it wasn't just sports, but odd-ball stuff, too, like the bar-tending guy.
