Water's Edge

Today we were shocked by the news of a local man who was fatally attacked by a shark. This tragic event happened right off the coast of Solana Beach. The man was swimming with a group, training for a triathlon when he was attacked. Lifeguards are suggesting that the public stay out of the water until Monday, however, the die-hard surfers are disregarding the lifeguard's suggestion, saying that their chances of getting killed on the freeway by a drunk driver are much higher than getting killed by shark. Still, a life was lost today in our waters.

My heart goes out to this man's family and friends.

Yesterday's song:

These things always hit us harder when they are close to home. We are very fortunate just be alive and healthy sometimes.

that's just so unbelievable. in a group of swimmers, no less! i've always been a big fan of swimming in the ocean and will not stop. but it does make one pause.

i'm so sorry for this man's family.
