"Walking in a winter wonderland..."
We need a costal Southern California version of Winter Wonderland. I went walking in my neighborhood and noticed all of the houses decorated with holiday ornaments and lights. The palm trees and giant bird of paradise plants were gently moving with the warmish breeze. There were people out bike riding and running with their shorts and tank tops on. In the distance, I could see sail boats on the bay. The song Winter Wonderland popped into my head, but it didn't quite fit.

"In the meadow we can build a snowman..."
When my son was in the first grade, one of the homework assignments was to make a snowman out of something other than snow, since we very rarely ever get snow here. We made a snowman out of gym socks stuffed with batting and used buttons, ribbons, raffia and what ever else we could recycle to make our sock snowman.

"Later on, we'll conspire, as we dream by the fire to face unafraid, the plans that we've made walking in a winter wonderland."
OK, I'm going with a bonfire at the beach.

It's so true that you gotta improvise to get that winter wonderful feeling here. I never thought I'd be jealous of people in commercials, but all these holiday ads featuring people in winter coats and snowflakes, but I am.

I know this song's been done by many artists. I'm going to go with Johnny Mathis.

I'm with ya...I grew up in a snowy area, so it always feels a little strange here at the holidays. I don't think my kids know about snow and Christmas other than from holiday songs and pictures. Is that wrong?

i like the 98 degrees version of this song, but i am pretty sure that wasn't who you had in mind.

i can't believe how unseasonably warm it has been but i love it. i am SO NOT a cold weather kind of girl.

Anne,
So Cal is all I know. I've been here forever. It's hard to miss something I don't have. By the way, Winner!!!!!!!!!

AKA Alice,
Like I told Anne, it's all I know. It doesn't snow for the holidays in other parts of the world. My MIL never had snow. It was always toasty hot in Brazil for Christmas. I guess Christmas is a state of mind. :)

Barbie2be,
I'm hooked on the Macy Gray version right now, but 98 degrees is pretty nice, too! Winner! I'm loving the warmer weather too, although it was nice to have some rain over Thanksgiving. :)

NSM,
Winner and winner!
