Watching The Clothes

20 minutes on the Bowflex row seat attachment.

Compared to the first time I trained for a marathon, the recoup time is much shorter than it used to be. I'm good to go after a full day of rest, provided the dog doesn't wake me up... I am now in taper mode, meaning no more super long mileage runs. I probably should have fit in a 2.5 mile run this morning before my chiropractor appointment, but I sat and ate breakfast with my grandson. Besides, I did get things going with the rows after I came home.

Another bonus to the two taper weeks is that I've quickly dropped 5 pounds since Saturday. There will be no more big carb loading until a few days before the marathon. I knew the weight gain and loss would happen, but no matter what I tell you, it still does something to the ego to see the weight go down.

I've finally received the $50 gift certificate for RRS from the Bones In Motion (wireless run tracker) people. I've been leafing through their catalog, specifically the women's running clothes section, trying to come up with something to wear for the marathon. It's a tough decision because there's so much to choose from. $50 will cover the cost of either a new shirt, a pair of shorts, or one of those running skirts that I'm interested in trying. Decisions, decisions...

Peace

If you try one of the running skirts can you post about the running comfort? I have seen a few folks wear them and like the look but worry about leg chafing or the underlining riding up, etc.
Happy Taper!

I'd go for the running skirt, but like Cathy said, I'd be concerned about the fit. Enjoy your taper--how you stay sane! :-)

Best of luck during the taper.

I have a running skirt, and I love it! You know the little briefs that track & field athletes used to wear (and maybe still do -- I can't think right now!)? Well, it feels like wearing those, and that feels just GREAT.

Enjoy your taper!

I'd vote for the running skirt too, but I like the runningskirt.com ones with the spankies and 2 big pockets on the sides. I didn't get any chafing and because of the spankies, they don't bunch up like shorts do. They're super cute, keeps you cool, and the skirts stay down even during windy conditions. Personally, I'd get a top from RRS, then get a matching skirt from runningskirt.com. Just my opinion. :)

I'm sure that gift certificate will be gone in quick time, regardless of how it's spent. Running stuff is so expensive.

And I haven't thought of that Pretenders song in ages. Thanks for the memories.

the pretenders?

a running skirt? i've never heard of such a thing. it sounds cute, but for me, i have so much loose skin on my thighs that i have to wear super tight running pants or i jiggle too much and hurt myself (or others!;) )

Cathy,
I'll keep you posted about the skirt. At first I thought it would be weird but I keep hearing good things about it.

Dori,
Yes, the fit is a concern. When I do finally get one I will keep you posted!

Leslie,
Thanks. Good to know!

Chantal,
Thanks for all the info you have volunteered! It helps a lot!

Anne,
Expense is why I shop at Target for running clothes or go to RRS when they're having a big sale. Brand name running garb can be pricey. Winnerwith the Pretenders! We saw them in concert at the Universal Ampatheater a zillion years ago. :)

Barbie2be,
Anne beat you to it! The skirts do look cute and I've been seeing more and more of them at races.

Waddler26.2,
I'm enjoying it!

OMG this skirt totally ROCKS -- perfect for all that jiggle. No charffing, not creeping, no rubbing, no camel toe, no unsightly spandex. What more could a gal want?

oh, yeah, for it to be free.
