I Have Confidence

Workout today - "The Bean"
I did 6 sets of 12 each of the advanced push-ups, side kicks, side kicks with bringing the elbow to the knee, and 6 sets of 30 each of abs and back extensions.

I've decided to keep "The Bean," even if I only use it for back extensions.

It just dawned on me that I have about eight weeks until the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco, so I printed out an 8 week training schedule from Runnersworld.com's Smart Coach, just so I have some organized plan to follow. I know there will be some tweaks along the way. I have yet to follow a training schedule to the "T." Perhaps I should try sticking to the plan exactly as written for once, and see what happnens...

Hubbie brought home some curtains from a job site of a client who is getting rid of pretty much everything in the house, such as window treatments, fixtures, counter tops, etc. The client has a more modern style, and the house was decorated in more of an antique, French provencial style. These curtains are NOT my style, but they can be reworked into different curtains or other things. My hubbie joked that we could make "play-clothes for the children " so they could go romp around the countryside singing songs, like in "The Sound Of Music."

Or, better yet, I could make myself a new gown and be all Scarlet O'Hara-esque, as in "Gone With The Wind."

The fabric is a thick, goldish hue, silk jaquard, lined with a layer of white flannel, then another layer of white muslin. These are huge, ceiling to floor, 12 foot curtain panels with fancy pleated detals at the top, plus tassel fringe along the edges. They are very well made and the fabric is actually gorgeous on it's own. I sew, therfore I can taylor them down to be more of what we like. Hubbie just doesn't see the potential and wants to put them up as they are. First of all, we don't have a room with a 12 foot ceiling. Second, the room the curtains might go in has a more contemporary feel to it, and the curtains as they are will not work. I have a feeling I'm on my own with these curtains, but I CAN make them work with what we already have.

Also, on the home decorating front, my daughter is painting her room pink. When she first mentioned that she wanted a pink room, I thought it would be a calm, soft pink. It's not just any pink. It's severe pink... I mean beyond Pepto-Bismol pink. She's doing this at her own expense and time, so if she decides she doesn't like it, she gets to re-paint it. I must say, though, she is doing a great job with the painting. I'll give her points for technique. (This was hard to photograph, because the walls kept showing up purple since I shot this at night. Against thewhite window trim it looks pinker.)

Julie Andrews (and anyone else playing Fraulein Maria) in The Sound of Music! I love that movie!

BTW, good advice the other day on squeezing your ab muscles being the most important thing when working them out. At the gym on Thursday when crunching, I thought "Remember what Irene said..."

And about the pink paint...

I think it's pretty, but it will look more subtle (subtler?) once the furniture and stuff is back in the room. My parents and brother once painted my parents' bedroom pink and were unnerved half-way through as it looked so bright. My brother said it looked like Zsa Zsa Gabor's bedroom - hee - but once they got the room put back together it looked nice and not too froo-froo.

My birthday is near Christmas, so my Mom was thinking of names like Christina, Holly, and Noel for me. Then she saw the Sound of Music. After that, my name was decided to be Julie Ann. *whew*
Thank goodness.

I LOVE your Scarlett reference. I use that one all the time too. I saw a gorgeous jacket last weekend at the Liz Claiborne outlet and was thinking it would make an awesome print for a sofa....so I hung it right back. The fabric is really nice and I agree with everyone above that you will be able to do some really neat things with it. Be sure to let us know.

And the pink paint....I understand. I had the same shock when I painted Kidlet's room what I thought was lavender last year. And it ended up looking like the purple teletubby. But after she moved her stuff into the room it was lavender again. ;)

Rachel,
Winner! ;) What ever muscle you're working on, squeeze it! I'm glad that helped you! The pink is starting to look better now that the furniture is slowly going into the room.

Eileen,
Thanks for visiting! She has a lot of ideas for the room, so we'll see how it actually turns out.

Juls,
I have friends who are sisters, born in December, who are Holly and Noel... I really like your name, too!

Shopper,
With those curtains, I couldn't resist a Scarlett O'Hara reference! That pink room was the room I had painted a soft mint green just last year, so it was some-what of a shock at first. I'll take a few pics when she gets all of the furniture in place.

that curtain fabric is GORGEOUS! it would also look good as part of a renaissance costume. :)
