Cool As Blue

Finally...

They've posted the results today:

22/62 1571 2173 IRENE M 50 SAN DIEGO 2:13:30 10:12

Yesterday I had a workout at RU. It was all about getting back to business, even THE DAY AFTER RUNNING A HALF MARATHON. Sometimes I think Bryan can be a little masochistic, but there really is a method to the madness, as I've said before. He even had me doing heavier weights than I'm used to for certain exercises. I was toast after all that, but, wait, there's more...

My Garmin Forerunner 405 CX arrived!

I think Bryan was more excited about my Garmin than I was. I'm still in a post run event haze* and he couldn't wait for me to start using my Garmin. He charged it and set it up for me, then had me run to try it out.

Yeah, he had me RUN.

Masochist...

One thing I've learned is to not complain or make snarky comments about anything I'm doing at RU, because Bryan will just give me more of what ever it is I've just said I've groaned over.**

I ran 3 laps around the complex without the heart rate monitor strap, then another 3 laps with it. Amazingly, I was a wee bit faster the second time around. I went about 1.25 miles total.

I still need to read the instructions manual and download the disk to my computer, etc. I also need to come up with a name for the Garmin, other than the Garmin. She's a shade of dusty blue. (Yeah, I said "she.") Any suggestions?

Today I'm taking off from any working out or running, but getting caught up on my blog reading and laundry, oh, and babysitting.

Sunday's song:

Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles - Nine-Oh-Nine

PEACE

*Post run haze = sore and tired.
**Which is why every exercise I do is my favorite exercise.

I put the 405 on my Christmas list .... I really hope I get one ...... it's nice to see that it's not as big as I keep thinking it is.

Maybe name it Zula? Sort of like azul which is blue in Spanish.

Ooooh! Enjoy the new Garmin, I have yet to name mine, or my bike, so I'm not the person to ask for a name. Congrats on the HM, great time!

Beautiful Garmin, Merry Early Christmas!! She is a lovely shade of blue and I'll bet you'll run faster and further with her on your arm. Your new arm candy!
Thanks for the update on the shoes. They had them to try out last night at Movin Shoes and lots of people tried them out...not sure if they liked them or not!?

What a beautiful little lady! The name that comes to MY mind is Lady Bella Blue... or Bella for short. I'm so jealous!

Great job on the half marathon time!! :)

Wow...Is the screen really that bright? I feel like I could make out the numbers with my really lousy eyesight!

The Bluebird of Happiness? (That's what I named my blue iPod.) Baby blue? I like Katie's suggestion of something to do with azul too. How about El Bebe Azul?

Enjoy.

Looks like you're getting some good suggestions. Looking forward to finding out the verdict.

Great pace!

Oooh! New Garmin!!! Lucky you!!! Sigh...I was hoping this will be the year for a new Garmin, but I have a lot of other stuff on my Christmas list. Keep us posted on how you like it.

Oh he IS masochistic! lol Sounds like he'd be fun though when you weren't cursing him & his descendants. The Garmin is pretty. No name suggestions but she's pretty.

Wow! Looks neat! I was in A Snail's Pace (my local running store) the other day and noticed it and the new 310 CX. I'm almost waiting for my 305 to die now....

That 405 is neat because Garmin finally is using heart rate to base calorie burn. In the past they always used distance and speed which is *not* as accurate. Your trainer will also have fun now becuase he'll be able to better tailor your workouts based on your heart rate.Fun to be had for everyone!

Hi, I found your blog....I look forward to running with you :). Love your new Garmin, the blue color is way cool! I've had my green one since April and have only read abut 4 pages of the manual - ha. Maybe I'd know more about it if I could understand it? Nah...
Happy running!

Katie,
I'll keep you posted on how I like it. The CX is supposed to accurately calculate caloric burn based based on heart rate.

Mel,
I'm really happy with my HM time. I wasn't expecting it!

Penny,
I hope she serves me well!

Mel - Tall Mom,
Thanks! I never think of myself as tough, but maybe I'm tougher than I think.

Pat,
Good suggestion! I'll have to remember Athena for something else. I like it.

Meg,
Yes, she's probably my Anniversary and Christmas present for this year! I don't think a person can tell how well something works until they use it for a while. I'll do a post about her once I get her all figured out.

Sara,
Thanks for the suggestion! Bella is one of my friend's dogs! Cute name, though.

AKA Alice,
Is it that bright? Next time I see you at a run I'll show ya, see what you think. It is pretty clear, though, maybe because it's new.

Rachel,
I'm laughing over Blue Bird of Happiness. When my sister was pregnant with her first child, she had a royal blue dress that her husband called "The Blue Bird of Happiness dress."

Anne,
It has been fun, but she's a Lucy/Lucinda.

IRFF,
Thanks. It felt easy and I'm pretty happy about it! I'll do a post about Lucy once I figure her out!

Rhoni Renee,
There is a method to the madness because it DOES work, but they're still masochistic. LOL.

Glenn,
My PT Bryan is all excited about my Garmin for the reasons you've mentioned. He can't wait to use it for my training. I wonder if I should be scared.

Jill,
Thanks for visiting! I look forward to "running" with you, too! I was looking at the green one, the 405, but we got them at a huge discount so I got the 405CX with some extra features.

I'm starting to train for a half marathon in May. I never had a training watch. Do you recommend it?
Of course, that's not the main part of the training, but is it an indispensable tool or a perk?
Thanks!
