Last Friday we celebrated the birthday of one of my coworkers, Pinky. I think I've posted how crazy our office is, with some of the nick-names, silly pranks and overall goof ball stuff that happens. A while back, Pinky could not remember the words "garbanzo beans." She kept calling them "bolitas," which is a Spanish term for "little balls." We had no idea what she was talking about. She kept on saying "you know, bolitias, those little white things you put on salad." Huh??? At the Christmas party someone brought the fixings for a salad bar, and several bowls were put out on the buffet table with all kinds of fruits and vegetables for the salad. In one of the bowls were garbanzo beans. Pinky points out the garbanzo beans and exclaims: "Bolitas!" We all started busting up, and we just didn't let it go -- We never let stuff like that go... Fast forward to last Friday. We were enjoying being out celebrating, and it comes to gift time. This is what I did, I mean, GAVE to Pinky:
Since I don't have Photoshop, I just did some cutting and pasting, then photocopied the label onto photo quality paper, and put the reworked labels on the cans of garbanzo beans... I also found several recipes from the internet that included garbanzo beans but changed the words "garbanzo beans" to "bolitas." Pinky got a big kick out of it, and so did everyone else. Yeah, we're all dorks, but we always have a good time.
Wednesday at sports rehab I graduated to heavier weights. I don't remember how heavy (they were heavier than normal) but let's just say it was no longer just a 5, 8, 10 or 12 pound dumbbells. I did barbell squats, perhaps about 50 pounds worth, maybe more. Then B (my therapist) said my butt is gonna get big -- then something about muscles... Then I replied with "my husband is a butt man." Ha. After that workout my posture, stance and walk felt more straight, more normal, if that makes sense.
For those of you with critters, especially cats, you know that an empty box or bag is just the perfect place for a nap, even it it's too small... I try to keep my shoes in the boxes they came in, mostly for ease of storage, and I don't end up with a pile of shoes on the floor of my closet. Any way, this is what I came home to right after my big butt workout -- I couldn't put my shoes away for a short while:
Tomorrow is the train run with the track club. We take a 16 mile train ride up the coast and run back. I think I'll be just fine, as long as I take it easy and keep moving the whole way. Cooler weather is in the forecast, and that will make for a pleasant run.
