Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Yesterday

Activity: Run - Treadmill
Date: 04/16/09 11:00 AM
Distance: 4.01 miles
Time: 0:42:00
Speed: 5.7 mph
Pace: 10' 30 min/mile
Calories: 399

Yesterday was 40 minutes of 4 minute intervals on the gym treadmill. The last two minutes were the treadmill cool down. I was able to go a wee bit faster without killing myself and took a minute off my m/m average, even with the cool down.

I feel pretty good. Not so toasted like Wednesday.

Today

I'm still waffling between attending tomorrow's track club long run or just doing my own thing. It's a 17 miler starting at the Oceanside Pier. Part of the reason why I'm waffling is because of the drive up. It's about a 35 minute drive up the interstate, which means trying to wake up my non-morning person of a husband early enough to arrive on time for the 6:30 am warm-up run and stretch. If it were a matter of just jumping out of bed, throwing on some running garb and taking off then we'd be OK, but we need to eat a small something at least an hour or more before we leave, and just getting my husband to wake up and eat breakfast in the wee hours of the morning takes a while. It's not the train run or a race day so there's no motivation for him to get moving. You know I'd be bitching at him to get a move on because we'd be late. I intensely dislike being late for anything. My other option is to run at the bay, which is less than a 5 minute drive down the road. No bitching involved. I'm sort of thinking running at the bay seems better and better all the time. Of course, the down side to not attending the track club's long run is that we won't get to see all of our friends, which is a big motivating factor for these longer runs -- hence the waffling. We'll see what happens.

I'm suddenly craving waffles.

Please Come To Boston

Rodney Yee's Yoga DVD today. About 1 hour.

I had a good recoup on Sunday. No aches or pains, which is a major thing for me. My son wasn't feeling well so we ended up a the doctors. He went to a concert on Friday and was in the"pit." He was tossled around a little while, uh, dancing(?) with the others... He was complaing about chest pains. They did an EKG, x-rays and blood tests, just to be on the safe side, but everything came back top-notch. He's fine but the doctor Rx'ed some higher strength motrin. We also did taxes... Yep. A fun filled Sunday, indeed.

The very wet and rainy Boston Marathon was today. Kenyan Robert Cheruiyot won with an unoffical time of 2:13:14. Amazing. The women's winner was Russia's Lidiya Grigoryeva in 2:29:18. Equally amazing.

It is highly unlikely, however not totally impossible, that I would ever run in the Boston Marathon. I need a Q time of about 4 hours for my gender and age group. I'm currently working on a 5 hour or less marathon. As of right now, the only way I would make it to the Boston Marathon is if I go as a happy spectator.

On a side note...
I am super craving all of the wrong foods right now. Mac n' cheese sounds really good right now, but I can't have dairy. White butter cream frosting, Hostess Twinkies, and hot dogs also sound equally delicious... I don't even really like hot dogs all that much, they just sound really good right now. Perhaps this "need to feed" on junk is left-over from my run on Saturday? It sure isn't PMS. I know I need to semi carb load after a big run like that, and make sure I get enough protein, but, sheesh! I'm wanting all the bad stuff!

Peace

Tuesday Afternoon

I can't remember exactly where I found this meme, this is what I ended up with:

What Irene Means

I is for Influential

R is for Rich

E is for Edgy

N is for Nervy

E is for Emotional

Let's analyze, shall we?

Influential - I guess that depends on what your talking about. In the working out and running areas, perhaps a smidge - especially with my friends and family who don't work out or run, but that's about it.

Rich - Comfortable, but by no means rich. Perhaps I can look at "rich" as my life being rich with loved ones. (Yeah, that sounds good.)

Edgy - After 3 cups of coffee and no breakfast...

Nervy - How about nervous? All that caffiene gets a gal buzzy.

Emotional - Sure. But aren't we all?

Actually, in all the name dictionaries, my name means "Peace."

There was no specific workout or run today but I sanded a 8' X 12' floor, which is like doing abs, hamstrings, biceps, triceps, and shoulders. I also put down a coat of polyurethaine. I'm tired. There's an extra room in the garage. It was added when my dad was a teen, when his grandfather came to live with the family. His dad built him that little room. My dad loved it because it was away from the rest of the house. Since this old house has very little storage/closet space, we're turning that little room into a much needed closet for (mostly) clothes and it will serve as a dressing area, once we turn the garage into a liveable space. We've also purchased 3 inexpensive armoire/closet pieces from Home Depot to go in that space.

Afer all that sanding, my appetite went through the roof. Everything just tasted so good. I'm not even PMSing right now. I guess I can chalk this up to one of my "free" meal for the week.

It's Fat Tuesday! Happy Mardi Gras or Carnaval!
