Runner's High

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I was feeling sort of guilty for not getting any runs in, so after I did my errands for the day I went to the lake. It was about 1:30 and not hot out. Part of the lake path was blocked off due to pipe work or some sort of construction, so I didn't get in the full 10K distance, but that's okay. There were very few people at the lake, the sun was out and there was a nice cool breeze. It doesn't get any better than that. I felt incredibly euphoric afterwards. It's hard to explain, but it's one of those moments that, as a runner, you look forward to. I did my run in exactly 45 minutes. When I got home I mapped out my run on mapmyrun.com. I did 5.52 miles in 45 minutes, which is an average mile of 8:09. I guess when ya feel good, everything falls into place. I can't remember the last time I had an average mile under 8:15... The weird thing is that I wasn't trying for time. I just wanted to run. Color me happy!

Peace

WOW! Thanks so much for that link. I've been wondering if there was something out there like that. I'm so happy to find it!

What an awesome run! I love the runner's high. Loooooove it. I never get the same endorphin rush from lifting weights as I do from running. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

Oh, and thanks so much for sharing your relationship wisdom on my blog today. I got some clarification on my husband's glaucoma diagnosis - I guess he's at the high end, but not full glaucoma yet (he said he tested at 24, whatever that means) and the tech told him to be sure to get regular check ups.

That's great! I always have to remember that awesome feeling I get after running to get myself out the door sometimes.

Wow, I'm impressed. How is the mint green room? I tried for that a few years back, but I kept ending up with institutional green. 5 paint shades later, I changed to a sand color! Green is a lovely complex color!

Your time is so impressive!! I'm just like Donna, I have to try hard to remember that feeling each time I'd rather stay inside. The runner's high is just awesome.

Katiefeldmom,
I love mapmyrun.com... I wished I would have known about it sooner. Come to find out I've been putting on at least a mile more than I originally estimated.

Rachel,
I felt REALLY good yesterday. It made me feel less anxious about everything... I hope everything will be okay for you and your hubbie.

Angie,
I so wish I could get that feeling every day too... I wish I could get that euphoric over cleaning the house.... :)

Donna,
That feeling makes it worth the effort.

Shpprgrl,
I keep forgetting that the little paint swatch sample is always darker in real life. :) It's not a real intense color, so I think once we move the furiniture in the room color won't seem so tooth-paste-y... LOL...

Melissa,
I'll take what ever I can get for time! I was pretty happy with it. I'll never be super speedy like a bunch of people I know, but at least I can still get out there and run, and that feels good.
